The new edition of the Visconti-Sforza tarocchi cards includes an 80-card deck with an expanded guidebook in a deluxe, hinged box. Stuart R. Kaplan authored the 60-page guidebook, which features color illustrations of the tarocchi cards. The pack also includes two bonus cards featuring portraits of Bianca Maria Visconti and Francesco Sforza. The 78-card deck comprises full-color facsimile reproductions of 74 original Visconti-Sforza tarocchi cards that have survived since the 15th century in Milan, Italy. Four cards that were missing from the original deck, namely The Devil, The Tower, Three of Swords, and Knight of Coins, have been meticulously recreated. The cards, without titles or numbering, depict daily life in medieval Milan through allegorical imagery. These original cards are located in three different locations. Thirty-five of them are in the archives of the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York, twenty-six are at the Accademia Carrara in Italy, and thirteen are at the Colleoni family villa near Bergamo.
