German confirmation catholic certificate 1880s

The day was July 31st, 1883, when a young German boy by the name of Martin August Friedrick Schafer received his Catholic confirmation certificate. This was no ordinary certificate; it was an exquisite piece of art produced by Lith. Concordia Publ. House M.C. Barthgel, Agt. St Louis, and copyrighted in 1878. However, with the passage of time, the paper has acquired some dark patches and the golden frame has some damage, lending it a unique and timeless appearance. I can only imagine Martin's excitement and pride as he held this beautiful certificate in his hands. Nevertheless, I do hope that Martin was able to read it, as I can not read German.
