What is a Gris-Gris?
A gris-gris is a collection of herbs, stones, oil, and charms that bestow good luck and spiritual protection on the bearer. This small bag contains unique items tailored to the individual or condition it’s intended for and can be worn around the neck or kept in a pocket to infuse the bearer’s energy into their gris-gris. The use of gris-gris was introduced to America by enslaved Africans brought from Senegal and Mali during the 17th and 18th centuries.
